AFRICAN PERCUSSION

During a two hour African percussion workshop by Master drummer Pape Samory Seck 

himself, everyone can boost up their skills in drumming and rhythm!
It doesn't matter if you are a skilled drummer yourself or if you have never touched a drum before!
The beauty of African percussion is, that we are all considered as equal and we help eachother!
Drumming is like communicating and it's a two-way conversation.
Take part in a (mind)journey through Senegal, where Griots forward the stories of their anscestors,
by translating all the relevant history in their songs and music.
For a moment, be part of the African tribes that are the roots of our human existence!

 

 

AFRICAN DANCE

Rather shake some hips and get fysical? During our African dance workshop you will experience the heat and sexiness of Sabar dance. The Sabar is a traditional drum from Senegal (also played in the Gambia). It is generally played with one hand and one stick. Among its most renowned exponents was the Senegalese musician Doudou N'Diaye Rose, uncle of Pape Samory Seck. The sabar was used to communicate with other villages. The different rhythms correspond to phrases and could be heard for over 15 kilometers.
Get introduced with this specific cultural feature that, together with music, embodies the spirit of West-Africa and feel how the vibes and high level frequencies can lift you up to higher ground!
